Jason Calacanis Resigning From AOL…?
Jason was upset with the replacement of his mentor Jon Miller from AOL this week. Mike over at Tech Crunch is reporting Jason has resigned. At this point it is still a rumor, as Jason is responding with “no comment”. Om Malik is declaring it as Falco 2, Calacanis 0. CEO’s taking over a company, shouldn’t have their first week start off with score counts over company innovators. I had the pleasure of meeting Jason a few month’s ago at a NextNY event. He spoke straight from the hip, and gave great advice. He’s one of the few entrepreneurs I seriously look upto. What does this mean for AOL? Trouble. Jon Miller is gone and with Jason gone, this spells a lot of trouble. Netscape is my pick to beat out digg… by far. Weblogs Inc was a great direction for AOL. Now the future star products of AOL are in serious jeopardy without leadership. If this proves true, expect this to be the story of the week in the blogosphere, especially with everyone starting to wonder what Jason’s next move will be. If I were AOL, I’d think long and hard about your leadership now. I still have to convince Calacanis that payperpost rocks… Expect me to update this post with more developments.
